Comedies are problematic

I really don’t like many comedies. What causes many people to laugh just leaves me staring nonplussed at the screen. Usually after about fifteen minutes of not laughing I typically turn off the movie and return it to Netflix unwatched. But since the list of comedies I don’t like is so very long I thought it would be fun to share the list of comedies I do like.

Here’s fifteen of my favorite lesser known comedy gems from the 1980s to current day:

Betsy’s Wedding

Blow Dry

Cold Comfort Farm

Cookie

Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid

Follow Me or The Private Eye (hard to find)

Mixed Nuts

Noises Off

Second Sight

Soapdish

Strictly Ballroom

The Favour, the Watch and the Very Big Fish (hard to find)

The Impostors

Under the Rainbow

Where the Heart Is
Unable to find a trailer, so here is a quick synopsis. Wealthy parents try some tough love on their spoiled children, yet when the parents fall on tough times it brings them all closer together. It stars Dabney Coleman, Uma Thurman, Joanna Cassidy, Crispen Glover and many others.

I plan to do a favorite comedy classics soon!
